With Father’s Day being only a few days earlier than my Dad’s birthday it’s always a special occasion for us. But this year particularly so for him. Not just because it was the first one with Parveen as part of our family but, far more adorably, the first one with his grand-daughter, Rose.
Instead of doing our usual dim sum run at Golden Dragon, Alex organised for us to have a Thai lunch in Suda. Whilst the service was on the relaxed side, the food was decent. Especially the gang phed per yang (roast duck red curry) I had which was flavoursome and generous with the meat.
Times like this it’s great to get the family together again. From watching my parents play with Rose, Alex doing his usual goofy expressions for the camera, laughing at Rose as she experiences the tang of a tangerine, to the moments that Mum and daughter share together.
We finished lunch by surprising Dad with Parveen’s walnut birthday cake brought out by the staff singing happy birthday to him. Baked by her that morning she was a bit anxious how it would turn out but she needn’t have worried. True to form it was as delicious as her cakes always are and we all loved it.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad. Here’s to many more to come!
